1) Lanhydrock House
Lanhydrock House is a National Trust property in mid Cornwall not far from the town of Bodmin. The house is mostly 19th century - it was rebuilt after a catastrophic fire.

2) Cotehele House
Cotehele House, the original home of the Edgecombe Family, later the Earls of Mount Edgecombe, is a mostly Tudor house with origins back to 14th century. Another National Trust property with a magical garden.

The Edgecombes built them selves a newer, grander house in the 16th century just across the Tamar mouth from Plymouth. It was gutted during the Blitz in the second world war. It was partly restored after the war and is now a country park administered by both Plymouth and Cornwall County councils.
We visited the lower gardens.
4. The Garden House, Buckland Monochorum, Devon
The Garden House, situated between Plymouth and Tavistock, is the former home of the vicars of Buckland Monachorum. built in the early 19th century. It was built on the site of a vicarage established by the Abbotts of Buckland Abbey back in the 14th century. The current gardens were established in the 1940s by Lionel and Katharine Fortescue and it is now run by the Fortescue Garden Trust, an independent registered charity.
