Back In France

We have just come back from two weeks in France, one week in Normandy and one week in Brittany.  The weather was pretty ordinary, especially in Brittany where we had two or three days of fine weather out of the seven we spent there.  Normandy was better mostly.

We departed Portsmouth on a blustery and showery afternoon bound for Cherbourg on the very fast ferry, Normandie Express.

On the way out of Portsmouth, we were able to see the Royal Naval Dockyards where we saw the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious amongst some other ships.

On arrival we drove from Cherbourg to the village of Crouttes near Vimoutiers via the town of Carteret on the Cotentin Peninsula
The harbour at Carteret
 Carteret
 The Cap de Carteret
The Light Station on the Cape
