Concarneau, Benodet and the Isles de Glenan

We spent a couple of days visiting Concarneau, Benodet and the off shore islands of Glenan.

Concarneau is a large town on the southern coast of Finisterre in Brittany.  The heart of the town is the Ville Close, Medeival town built on an island close to the modern port.
The entrance to the Ville Close
Street scenes in the Ville Close
We saw this boat later under sail off the Isles de Glennan.  It does trips under sail from Concarneau out to the Isles.
Benodet is a town at the mouth of the River Odet.  Looking upriver from the ferry port
 Looking towards the river mouth
Vedettes de l'Odet operate trip boats which venture up the river Odet from Benodet to Quimper and also out to the Isles de Glenan in the Bay of Concarneau.  We took this ferry to the Isle de St-Nicolas.
The landing pier on the island of St-Nicolas.  Not the largest of the islands, but the hub of most of the activities there.  A couple of restaurants and some holiday accommodation.
It doesn't take log to walk around the island - about 40 minutes.

We took a side cruise around the archipelago
It is a hub for water sports of all kinds.  These people were learning sail boarding.
The lighthouse on one of the other islands
and that boat we last saw at Concarneau - under full sail.
Cormorants drying out on some rocks.
