My friends, Geoff and Jane from Healesville met up with us in the South Hams area of South Devon, where we spent a couple of nights together at a Pub called the Malsters Arms in the small village of Tuckenhay between Totnes and Dartmouth
Tuckenhay lies on the banks of Bow Creek which flows into the River Dart estuary
The pub is right on the banks of the creek which hosts plenty of bird life. Their restaurant specialises in fish dishes
Geoff, Jane and Viv enjoying a quiet drink by the creek
This swan with her brood of cygnets swam past us. One of the cygnets was taking a ride on the swans back
We visited Dartmouth Castle at the mouth of the River Dart.

Jane went down to inspect the small bay beside the castle
Whilst Geoff looked anxiously from the top of the cliff
We also went to Slapton Sands just around the corner from Dartmouth

During the second world war, Slapton Sands was utilised by the US army for training for the D Day Landings. One night a couple of German E Boats got amongst the troops who were staging a landing and created havoc. More about this story via the following link
