Two More Castles

Today we went to visit two castles - the first is Launceston Castle in Cornwall and the second is Okehampton Castle in Devon.  Both date from Norman times.

On the way home we visited the new bridge across the River Walkham between Tavistock and Plymouth which has been constructed as part of the creation of a Rail Trail walking and cycling track using the track of the old Railway line between those two towns.  This bridge, which was completed in time as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations here in England, replaces an earlier viaduct which has long gone.  This area along the River Walkham is the site of mining activities during the 10th century and earlier.
