Still In France

We are still travelling down the Dordogne River......
After leaving Domme we arrive at La Roque Gageac, a town built in to the cliff walls and where boat trips can be taken.

The Dordogne/Perigord region is famouse for the caves where prehistoric people left cave paintings. The town shown below, Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, is the centre for visting many such caves. We visited the Grotte de Rouffignac.

On our last full day in the Dordogne region we drove down to Cahors, a large city on the Lot river to see their famed medieval bridge

A mysterious and derelict Chateau we saw on the way back to Sarlat

the time came when we had to return to England.

We stayed the night in Nantes in the Loire Valley and

visited The Chateau de Chenonceaux

Around the Perigord Dordogne area

Our Hosts, Sandra and Steve welcomed us to our holiday cottage, Le Vieux Four, which is in a little hamlet called La Doinie near St Genies

The nearest town to St Genies is Sarlat-La-Caneda which is famed for it's market and it's old city area

On the way down, about half an hour before we arrived at our holiday cottage we saw this huge chateau dominating the skyline. This was the Chateau de Hautefort and we went back to look at it the next day.
